ECTRI unveils new position paper on FP10 at TRA2026

At TRA2026, ECTRI released a new position on the upcoming Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (FP10), in response to recent EU developments and proposals.

Representing 28 major research institutes and universities from 21 European countries, ECTRI welcomes the continuation of FP10 as a standalone programme, as proposed by the European Commission. ECTRI further endorses the proposal made by the European Parliament’s Committee on Industry, Research and Energy, as a better suited approach for an ambitious FP10, supporting a collaborative research ecosystem and competitiveness in the EU.

To better align FP10 with strategic European objectives, ECTRI recommends:

  •  Dedicated sufficient, ring-fenced funding to collaborative research in transport in FP10
  • Greater integration of cross-cutting topics in FP10, to properly address transport challenges
  • Stronger support for basic and low-TRL research for competitiveness and the twin transition towards sustainable and smart mobility
  • Governance for a stronger transport research ecosystem
