The 2026 edition of the Transport Research Arena will be held in Budapest, from May 18 to 21, 2026, under the theme “Regeneration in Transport.” It is expected to gather over 3000 participants, including researchers, policymakers, industry representatives from across Europe and beyond.
A transversal theme, reflecting a collective call for renewal in response to social, environmental, and technological challenges. The conference will focus on engaging the next generation of thinkers, innovators, and leaders to drive transformation toward cleaner, more efficient, and forward-looking transport systems.
Europe’s largest and most prestigious conference on transport research and innovation will focus on 4 key topics:

ECTRI has a long-standing engagement in the TRA conferences since its first Edition in 2006. Being member since 2014, via the European Transport Research Alliance, of both the Management and Programme Committees, ECTRI contributes to the strategic direction of the event as well as to the programme development of each edition.
ECTRI plays notably a major role in supporting the VISIONS Young and Seniors Researchers Awards and the publication of the best Conference papers via its peer-reviewed Journal, ETRR – the European Transport Research Review.
ECTRI is also directly involved in the daily operations through its participation in the EU-funded Coordination and Support Action, which supports the overall organisation of the conference, and notably the dissemination and promotional activities.
ECTRI will also hold a stand at the TRA 2026 exhibit.
