ECTRI replies to the European Commission’s call for evidence on Clean Corporate Vehicles

With this initiative, the European Commission aims to accelerate the uptake of zero-emission vehicles in corporate fleets to help decarbonise the EU automotive industry and meet the EU’s emission reduction targets.

ECTRI welcomes the opportunity to contribute to this process and underlines 8 key points to support an effective road transport electrification:

  • Attain corporate fleet electrification gradually, starting with cars and vans and setting electrification paths for other categories (coaches and trucks)
  • Set specific electrification targets by fleet type
  • Encourage depot and workplace charging during off-peak hours to maximise GHG emission savings
  • Reduce emissions by asking fleets to be Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G)
  • Use open, proven standards (ISO 15118-20, OCPP 2.0.1) to ensure interoperability
  • Incentivise flexibility and facilitate data access for learning from balancing, congestion relief, and peak-shaving
  • Support depot upgrades and tariffs that reward grid-friendly charging
  • Rely on robust research to guide public and private decision-makers on environmental, social, and economic impacts
