Support to Europe’s road transport research and innovation ecosystem
The CENTREe Coordination and Support Action sets out to transform and further develop Europe’s road transport research and innovation ecosystem into a globally competitive, digitally empowered and sustainability-driven landscape. It addresses fragmentation, helps accelerate innovation uptake and fosters strategic collaboration across sectors and borders. It delivers actionable strategies for impactful research and innovation, advances digitalisation for Road Transport Research (RTR), expands the RTR stakeholder community, strengthens international cooperation, introduces education and (re-)skilling pathways and establishes robust knowledge-sharing mechanisms, being aligned with the European Green Deal. In this context, CENTREe also supports Europe’s shift towards sustainable mobility to ensure long-term resilience, inclusivity and technological leadership. Considering the recommendations of the Draghi Report relating to European competitiveness and in preparation for the future Framework Programme, CENTREe fosters innovation capacity and reinforces technological sovereignty within the European road transport sector.
Funded by the European Commission under the Horizon Europe programme (HORIZON-CL5-2025-04) CENTREe brings together 14 partners spanning over industry organisations, academic institutions and umbrella organizations representing a large number of RTR stakeholders. The project is coordinated by AVL DITEST GMBH and will run for the next three years.
