Title : Resilience of transport infrastructure, challenges for policy evaluation by Pauline Wortelboer-van Donselaar & Johan Visser, from KiM Netherlands Institute for Transport Policy Analysis, the Netherlands

Abstract: After a short presentation of the activities of our institute, we will present the challenges of incorporating resilience into decision-making on investments in transport infrastructure. Resilience is playing an increasingly important role in investments in transport infrastructure due to the disruptions in the past, such as COVID and blockages of important maritime routes, and current geopolitical developments. In order to guarantee the security of goods supply in the event of emergencies, adjustments to supply chains are needed, as are future investments in infrastructure. In this presentation, we explain the latest insights into making resilience operational and how this knowledge can be applied in ex ante policy evaluation for decision-making on transport infrastructure by ministries of transport and infrastructure.
