Title: Waterborne public transport: A feasibility study on agent-based simulation and CBA readiness, by Henrik Sjöstrand, Senior Analyst at the Department of Transport Economics at the Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute (VTI), Stockholm, Sweden.

Abstract: The feasibility study further develops and applies the WUM (Waterborne Urban Mobility) agent-based model in MATSim to analyze two novel electric ferry concepts in Stockholm, where Candela’s boats use hydrofoiling technology. The results show increased peak-hour demand but also capacity challenges. The study also examines how WUM can support improved cost-benefit analysis of waterborne public transport and provides a basis for larger future network studies.
