ECTRI Strategy Mid-term Review

Your input matters

On 10 December 2025, the ECTRI General Assembly met in Zagreb, Croatia, and held a Mid-Term Review Strategy Workshop to discuss potential updates to the ECTRI Strategy 2021–2030. Although the feedback collected during the meeting was highly valuable and extensive, the ECTRI Board has agreed to share the questions raised at the workshop to those Members who were unable to attend. This way, all Members have a chance to provide their views. You are kindly invited to do so by replying to the short survey below. Your feedback is important and will be carefully considered in the drafting of proposed updates to the Strategy.

ECTRI Core Values

Despite the importance of fundamental beliefs and principles that guide an association’s culture, governance, and behavior, the current ECTRI Strategy 2021–2030 does not explicitly define a set of core values. However, the ECTRI Strategy Paper from 2008 identified three fundamental values: 1) intellectual independence, 2) transparency, and 3) scientific excellence. Through the questions below, ECTRI aims to better understand Members’ views on these existing core values and to assess whether additional values should be considered as part of the ongoing Mid-Term Review of the Strategy.

ECTRI Membership Policy

According to the ECTRI Strategy 2021–2030, the ECTRI membership policy is based on two main principles: first, the admission of new Members that demonstrate excellence in any field of mobility research; and second, a focus on organisations from European countries that are not yet represented within the Association. An additional important aspect, defined in ECTRI’s internal rules rather than in the Strategy itself, concerns membership applications from organisations based in countries associated with the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation. Such applications are currently assessed on a case-by-case basis. Through the following set of questions, ECTRI aims to better understand whether ECTRI Members wish to retain the policy regarding application submissions from associated countries. Further, ECTRI Members are free to express any other addition to considered in the future regarding the membership policy.
