ECTRI replies to the EC open consultation on the Freight Transport Information (eFTI) platforms

With this initiative, the European Commission aim to support the digital transformation of freight transport by defining functional requirements for eFTI platforms. It marks a key step in improving data exchange and interoperability across Europe’s logistics ecosystem.

ECTRI welcomes the opportunity to contribute to this process and underlines the following six key points to ensure an efficient implementation of the eFTI Regulation:

  1. Ensure accessibility for SMEs and authorities through modular design and EU-funded support
  2. Make platform security and certification mandatory from the start
  3. Harmonise B2B documents with the eFTI model to avoid duplication
  4. Define a core compliance data set to reduce technical burden
  5. Enable secure data use for research, innovation, and statistics
  6. Establish a permanent technical board for updates and governance
