ITF 2017 Summit

Leipzig, Germany – May 31 – June 2, 2017

This year again, ECTRI joined business, government leaders and other transport stakeholders to discuss changes underway across the transport sector. The 2017 Summit theme – Governance of Transport – made it clear that a fundamental shift is needed in the way that global transport systems operate

At the Decarbonising Transport session (May 31), first results were presented. The last year was used first to consolidate funds and second to develop the urban mobility simulation tool on which they expect feedback from partners. Next step will include policy analysis and definition of measures. Following that session, M. Robinson, G. Lindberg and C. Alméras met with Jari Kauppila (ITF Head of Statistics and Modelling) to further discuss the inputs and support expected from ECTRI as knowledge partner.

On side event on “Governing the smart mobility transition” organised by WCTRS (June 1), M. Robinson voiced ECTRI position with speech on “Key Governance Challenges for Smart Mobility Transitions”, putting also forward SETRIS and SKILLFUL projects impacts on the topic.

Finally, transport ministers of ITF member countries named Dr. Young Tae Kim the new Secretary-General of the ITF. ECTRI congratulated Dr. Young Tae Kim and thanked the outgoing Secretary-General Professor José Viegas for the great work and achievements.
