The 8th IRTAD International Conference: Better Road Safety Data for Better Safety Performance took place in Athens, Greece, on 15-17 April 2026. It gathered over 320 participants and 330 authors, including:
- Over 60 researchers from 13 ECTRI Members contributing in several of the 22 sessions, 90 oral presentations and 34 posters.
- 9 researchers from 7 ECTRI Members nominated in the Conference’s Scientific Committee.
- ECTRI TG Safety Rapporteur Sandra Vieira speaking on behalf of ECTRI in a panel discussion on “Key challenges in evidence-based road safety policies”.
Among the 124 extended abstracts presented during the conference, IRTAD 2026 recognised several researchers for their remarkable papers, including two ECTRI Members:
- Ingeborg Hesjevoll, from ECTRI Member TØI, winner of the Best Paper Award for Researchers
- Valerio Michiorri, from ECTRI Member University Sapienza di Roma, winner of the Best Student Paper Award
ECTRI congratulates the winners and IRTAD Conference organisers the International Traffic Safety Data and Analysis Group of the ITF – International Transport Forum at the OECD and ECTRI Member National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) for a successful IRTAD Conference.
