András Munkácsy appointed Director General of KTI

ECTRI welcomes the appointment of András Munkácsy as Director of ECTRI founding Member KTI. Appointed by the Hungarian Minister of Transport and Investment, he officially took office on June 16, 2026.

András Munkácsy, formerly head of the Transport Development Department at KTI, holds a PhD in Transportation and Vehicle Sciences and over 15 years of experience in transport research. He has been actively involved in European collaboration for many years, and in particular with ECTRI where he serves as KTI official representative since 2019. As coordinator of the EU-funded project supporting the TRA2026 preparation, Andras also played a key role in the success of the Transport Research Arena 2026, that took place in Budapest, Hungary, end of May. 

ECTRI warmly thanks former Director-General István Varga, for his accomplishments, and looks forward to continued cooperation for many more years with KTI in advancing sustainable and multimodal mobility in Europe.
