ECTRI at 27th ITS World Congress and Summit

The 27th ITS World Congress organised by ERTICO – ITS Europe, hosted by the city of Hamburg and supported by the German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, took place from 11-15 October 2021.

Magnus Lamp, DLR and member of the ECTRI Board, represented ECTRI at the overall event and at the ITS Summit meeting.

The ITS Summit is meant to encourage cross-sector discussion on transport concerns and priorities. It was a key element of the 2021 ITS World Congress which main theme was: Experience Future Mobility Now. The participants met their global counterparts to align on common transport challenges and possible solutions.

This year’s Summit discussions were focused on reaching conclusions on five prevalent challenges that include modal shift, public acceptance, avoiding regional stand-alone solutions, market dynamics and regulations, as well as coping with increasing city-logistics. Delegates shared experiences of ITS solutions and services that are ready to support these themes and also identified areas where solutions are incomplete, where more fundamental research is needed to enable progress to be made, or where more trials and demonstration projects would be beneficial.

ECTRI corroborates the conclusions that solutions for the emerging issues shall be reached with a global partnership on research, and is committed to actively contribute to it.
