On Friday, October 23rd 2020 took place the strategic conference of the newly established Latvian association “Woman in Transport” hosted by ECTRI Member Transport and Telecommunication Institute (TSI).

The association “Women in Transport” involves women working in the Latvian transport sector, as well as companies and students and aims at creating partnerships in order to promote better representation of women in the sector and support the development of women’s careers. To achieve this – the funders and newly admitted members represent all sectors from aviation to maritime including the four higher education establishments, currently the most experienced and also retired experts as well as the young women.

C. Alméras, ECTRI Secretary General, addressed the participants of the conference, highlighting the importance of improving women representation in the transport sector, giving also focus on the understanding of women needs in transport, on carrier opportunities and on reaching gender balance in all stages. As final message, she stated that to move things forward for women, one need to “lead by examples” – the more visible, the more you achieve; such Latvian initiative can bring much value for advancing on the different issues.
