ECTRI input to the first Horizon Europe workprogramme

Since its foundation in 2003, ECTRI has constructively contributed to the preparation of the transport and mobility research agendas in successive EU framework programmes (FPs) reflecting on the key research challenges for achieving a sustainable and multimodal transport system. ECTRI has independently been providing key research topics to address the largest needs in research and innovation funding.

ECTRI welcomes the commitment of the European institutions towards research and innovation and hopes that the current crisis strengthens this commitment for funding the next R&I framework programme to build the foundation for timely recovery as well as prosperous and beneficial long-term effects to society.

In this position paper, ECTRI outlines a vision for transport research in Horizon Europe and key research topics in the domains of Mobility, Freight & Logistics, Safety, Security & Resilience, Traffic management, Economics & Policy, and a number of needs of cross-cutting nature.
