On November 19, 2014, ECTRI President G. Giannopoulos presented the ECTRI position at the 6th European Innovation Summit session “Towards a better European Transport System” in the European Parliament. BoutonETC 2014 European Transport Conference

ECTRI's Secretary General Caroline Alméras chaired a session at ETC 2014 European Transport Conference, officialy supported by ECTRI, in Frankfurt, Germany (September 29 - October 1, 2014). The session held on October 1, dealt with "Encouraging effective use of research results" followed by a panel discussion. Speakers came from different horizons. ECTRI also had a stand on the exhibition floor of the conference displaying ECTRI promotion material, members' brochures and the ETRR journal.

On October 8, 2013 ECTRI celebrated its 10th Anniversary in Brussels, Belgium with about 100 high level representatives from all sectors of European transport: major academic and industrial transport related organizations, the European Commission, ECTRI members and associated or cooperating organizations. BoutonCITY-HUB: an ECTRI supported project

City-HUB, an ECTRI supported project recently launched, looks at design and operation of seamless, smart, clean and safe intermodal public transport systems, and addressing how these interchanges should ensure that “vulnerable” target groups can adequately benefit from them. The Transport Research Arena (TRA) - Europe 2012 conference took place on 23-26 April 2012 in Athens, Greece with a number of ECTRI supported sessions and events. ECTRI delegates were involved in 4 sessions and more than 120 researchers from 17 ECTRI Members (AIT, BASt, CERTH‐HIT, DLR, DTU, DVS, FhG, Ifsttar, KTI, LNEC, POLITO, SWOV, TNO, TRL, UPM, VTI and VTT) participated as speakers or authors.

Bouton ENT II End Conference

The ENT II End Conference "Transnational research funding collaboration in transport" took place on April 17, 2012 in Brussels, Belgium. The ECTRI Secretary General, Ms. Alméras participated in this conference. The conference focused on building a European Research Area (ERA) for transport which is the main achievements of ENT II and to discuss the thematic perspectives of future flagship topics in ENT III  –  an  outlook towards the next step in ERA-NET TRANSPORT.

BoutonBuilding the Urban Future & Transit Oriented Development - BUFTOD

The BUFTOD conference is a dedicated arena for the debate on TOD, allowing the crossing of scientific disciplines and the associated approaches, exchanging on cases studies at the international level (in Europe, Americas, Asia ...). The BUFTOD 2012 conference explored the role of rail and other transport modes in transit oriented development and the connection with spatial development at the urban and regional scales. This conference co-organized by Ifsttar took place in Paris/Marne-la-Vallée, France on April 16-17, 2012.

The EUTRAIN launching event for Network of Related Entities (NRE) sucessfully took place in Washington DC on 24 January 2012. The draft agenda is available. “Network Related Entities ‐ NRE”, is a wider network of “players” in transport research (approximately 100) covering the entire world, and who are asked to provide inputs to the projects, via the project’s electronic interaction platform and e‐mails; and they are also invited to participate in all project workshops and Conference at their own costs.

BoutonTRB 91st Annual Meeting

In the frame of the ECTRI-TRB MoU, ECTRI has actively contributed by organising and participating in a number of sessions to the Transportation Research Board (TRB) 91st Annual Meeting organized in Washington, D.C., USA on January 22-26, 2012. ECTRI organized a number of sessions and gave a European flavour to the Annual Meeting. With the event, Christian Piehler, ECTRI President, Prof. George Giannopoulos, ECTRI‐TRB MoU Moderator, and Caroline Alméras, ECTRI Secretary General, highlighted sessions where a number of ECTRI members participated. The EUTRAIN project was one of the important element of ECTRI's activity during TRB where the launching of NRE event took place.

BoutonEIB matrix - ECTRI Contribution

The EIB launched a public consultation in view of the revision of its transport lending policy, which concluded in December 2011 with the adoption of a revised policy. It was the first sector policy the Bank consulted upon publicly. The ECTRI contribution to this consultation was well received and recognized as an important input for the revised policy adopted by EIB as you may see from the EIB matrix.

On December 5, 2011 the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) and the European Commission (EC) holds a joint conference entitled "The White Paper on Transport – The Viewpoint of European Civil Society" in which ECTRI secretariat participated. ECTRI released its position paper on the EC White Paper “Roadmap to a Single European Transport Area– Towards a competitive and resource efficient transport system” in July 2011.

BoutonNET-TRACK project

Further to the successful workshop on Research Management held in Budapest in June 2006, ECTRI organised a second wokshop on Soft Research Infrastructures that was held on 7 and 8 June in Ljubljana (Slovenia) in the framework on the NET-TRACK project.

BoutonApril 2006

EURFORUM project launched in April 2006 :ECTRI is partner of the EURFORUM project, a coordination action on Urban Mobility financed by the EU within the 6 FRDP; this European initiative aims at setting research priorities for the urban mobility sector and creating a forum of stakeholders on urban mobility research, including local and regional authorities, public transport operators and users, the supply industry, etc... EURFORUM will provide recommendations for the coordinations of European research on urban mobility issues.
