SUMMARY:22nd ECTRI TG Economics & Policy Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Presentation of the Webinar: \nTitle: Strategic Conversations with Public Transport Operators: framing collaboration through long-term future scenarios by Alberto Rojas-Rivero\, Transport Research Centre of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM)\, Spain \nAbstract: This research focuses on collaborative planning and future studies applied to transport decision-making and policy. In his recent research work\, he has addressed topics such as the role of speculation around disruptive events in supporting the design of transformative land-use and transport strategies; the development of collaboration-oriented\, long-term future narratives of transport systems that capture experts’ worldviews; and the potential of such divergent scenarios to reframe the collaborative strategies that shape those futures.  \nSeminars are open to the ECTRI Members.\nPlease contact the Secretariat if you are interested to join: www.ectri.org/contact/

SUMMARY:21st ECTRI TG Economics and Policy Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Presentations of the Webinar: \nTitle: Participatory smart cities: a crowdsourced data integration model for sustainable and safer mobility by Manuel Merolla\, Research Centre for Transport and Logistics (CTL)\, Sapienza University of Rome \nAbstract: This presentation introduces a research framework that explores how citizen-generated information can meaningfully support sustainable mobility and road-safety planning. The work begins with a review of international literature on crowdsourcing\, civic participation\, and Intelligent Transport Systems\, highlighting how subjective feedback can complement\, but never replace\, official statistics in understanding urban mobility challenges. The study examines the Danish context\, where municipalities widely use Giv et Praj (“Give a tip”) platforms to collect citizen reports on issues such as cycling conditions\, traffic safety\, and public-space maintenance. This analysis identifies both the strengths of the Danish crowdsourcing ecosystem and the challenges related to reporting behaviour\, data variability\, and uneven participation across municipalities. Building on these insights\, the presentation introduces a data integration model that aligns subjective reports with official accident data. The model incorporates semantic classification\, sentiment analysis\, feature engineering\, and machine learning to classify reports\, quantify perception–reality gaps\, and forecast accident trends. Case studies from Aarhus\, Odense\, and Gentofte illustrate how crowdsourced data can reveal latent risks\, highlight over- or under-perceived hazards\, and improve the interpretability of local safety conditions. Findings show that citizen reports offer valuable signals—especially in larger\, data-rich municipalities—but also display systematic biases that must be recognized when used for policy purposes. The presentation concludes by outlining future developments\, including the integration of more specialized algorithms for improving the entire framework and AI-based tools for more interactive engagement with citizens. \nSeminars are open to the ECTRI Members.\nPlease contact the Secretariat if you are interested to join: www.ectri.org/contact/

SUMMARY:20th ECTRI TG Economics and Policy Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Title: ‘How System Configuration Shapes Demand: Agent Based Simulation of Mobility-on-Demand systems & policy insights’ \nSpeaker: Tilmann Schlenther from DLR \nBio: Tilmann Schlenther is a Research Associate at the Institute for Transport Research at German Aerospace Center. He studied Transportation Planning and Operations at Technische Universität Berlin\, where he recently completed his PhD. His research focuses on agent-based simulations of innovative mobility concepts\, including autonomous mobility-on-demand systems and the integration of passenger and freight transport. It further encompasses modeling parking and charging behavior\, as well as the analysis of decarbonisation pathways through participatory dialogue with citizens. \nAbstract: To establish Mobility-on-Demand and autonomous Mobility-on-Demand services as part of sustainable transport systems\, a forward-looking configuration process is indispensable. Modern methods such as agent-based transport simulation are particularly well suited for this task\, as they combine the representation of individual travel behavior with the physical interactions of the transport system. This presentation demonstrates how such a simulation framework can be applied as a decision-support tool in the context of a real-world pilot project. Apart from decision-support\, the presented investigations contribute to the understanding of fundamental interactions between demand and supply in Mobility-on-Demand systems. \nSeminars are open to the ECTRI Members.\nPlease contact the Secretariat if you are interested to join: www.ectri.org/contact/
