Professors Karst Geurs from the UTwente Transport Studies Group and Luís Picado Santos, University of Lisbon, have organized a special issue published in European Transport Research Review, in close collaboration with ECTRI. The editorial has just been published.
The special issue “Moving together: reimagining mobility worldwide. Highlights of the 2022 Transport Research Arena conference” brings together a selection of thirteen (13) high quality papers presented at the Transport Research Arena (TRA) Conference in Lisbon, Portugal, 14–17 November 2022.
Out of these, seven (7) articles have received important contributions by seven ECTRI Members DLR, AIT, UCD, CERTH-HIT, UPM, VUB, and BME.
Papers in this article collection highlight the potential of new mobility and logistic concepts, connected and automated mobility to reduce the societal costs of transport and improve economic efficiency. At the same time, papers examining user aspects of new mobility services illustrate some of the barriers and difficulties of implementation. There are various barriers to the potential adoption of new mobility services, and planning ideals and lived reality typically differ strongly.
