ECTRI member Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute (VT, in collaboration with the division of Communications and Transport Systems (KTS) at Linköping University are hiring 2 PhD students in Infra Informatics with the following two specializations:
Congestions at bus terminals
How can bus terminals be improved to reduce congestion and delay? In the project, you will develop methods and implement algorithms that use large amounts of open data on bus movements to quantify and analyze congestion effects, as well as enable effective simulation of traffic at bus terminals. Your work will include statistical analysis and modeling as well as programming for handling large amounts of data and implementing developed algorithms.
Design and simulation for future traffic signals
How can the control of Swedish traffic signals be improved by using and combining data on individual vehicles from connected vehicles and/or surface detection (such as lidar, radar, video)? In the project, you will work both on developing new control strategies and evaluating them using traffic simulation (e.g. with tools such as SUMO or Vissim).
Submit your application, no later than 12 May.
The projects are funded by Trafikverket via CTR – Centre for Traffic Research
