ETRR Call for papers on sustainable mobility in rural areas

In light of this ETRR topical collection on “Ensuring sustainable mobility in urban periphery, rural areas and remote regions”, the guest editors – Guenter Emberger (Vienna University of Technology, Austria), Yacan Wang (Beijing Jiaotong University, China) and Takeru Shibayama (Vienna University of Technology, Austria) – would like to encourage you to submit papers dealing with everyday mobility, tourism and leisure mobility, and other types of occasional mobility and intercity transport focusing on the following research topics:

  • effective national and/or regional strategies to ensure mobility of the people without owning private motorized vehicles in urban peripheries, rural areas and remote regions
  • role of public transport and newly emerging technologies, such as demand-responsive transport, e-bikes and electric kick-scooters, vehicle sharing, self-driving shuttles, and Mobility-as-a-Service for sustainable mobility in urban peripheries, rural areas and remote regions
  • tourism and leisure mobility in urban peripheries, rural areas and remote regions
  • resiliency of transport system in urban peripheries, rural areas and remote regions in case of disruptive events such as natural disasters and epidemics 
  • impact of e-commerce on mobility in urban peripheries, rural areas and remote regions
  • use of emerging data and information sources
  • ensuring participatory planning process
  • impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on everyday mobility in urban peripheries, rural areas and remote regions
